Incarnation of An Icon
Restaurant Het Vliegend Tapijt is a West Flemish icon that was renowned in the past for its excellent cuisine, its essential bar, and the unique music selection of the owner. When chef Felix took over from his parents a few years ago, he had big shoes to fill.
In 2019, the restaurant underwent a thorough makeover. The challenge was to upgrade the restaurant from a traditional pub atmosphere to a more stylish, intimate, and contemporary interior that combines shades of grey with warm deep orange and light blue accents.
Due to its iconic status, some existing elements were preserved in the design. Thus, the well-known flying carpet on the ceiling received a contemporary interpretation.
Another characteristic feature of the restaurant is its remarkable selection of biodynamic and natural wines, which are elegantly presented in the ‘showcase cabinet’ made of green-tinted glass.
